ABS-CBN and the Miss Chinatown Foundation recently staged and aired last Sunday night the grand coronation night for Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2014, which was hosted by Xian Lim, Enchong Dee, Gretchen Ho, and Kim Chiu, and was held on Sunday evening, July 27, at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

On that night, two titles were passed on by last year’s winners, Rolini Lim Pineda and Randy See. These titles landed in the hands of candidate number 6, Nicole Cordoves, and candidate number 1, Kurt Joshua Ong.

A total of 24 candidates, split equally between men and women, competed for the prestige of representing the Filipino-Chinese community as Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2014.

Among those in the running to become Mister Chinatown 2014 were Mr. Chinatown 2014 First Runner-up, David Sy Licauco, and Mr. Chinatown 2014 Second Runner-up, Timothy Lawrence Yap.

Meanwhile, for the women vying for the Miss Chinatown 2014 title, it was Christine Grace Co who took home the title of Miss Chinatown 2014 First Runner-up, while Tola Orendain was named Miss Chinatown 2014 Second Runner-up.

The winners of the Mr. and Miss Chinatown competition this year received P500,000 worth of cash and prizes. The 1st Runner-up took home P300,000 worth of cash and prizes, while the 2nd Runner-up took home P200,00 worth of cash and prizes.

Special awards were also given throughout the course of the pageant.

The Social Media Favorite awards were given to King Choi and Glezlie Ong. Mr. and Miss Friendship went to John Ralph Boo and Felina Lim, respectively. John Ralph Boo also took home the award for Best in Talent, while Miss Chinatown 2014 First Runner-up Christine Grace Co took home the said award among the women. Best in Active Wear went to Mr. Chinatown 2014 First Runner-up David Sy Licauco, who also took home to the title of Best in Formal Wear. A similar double awarding happened in the females’ category, as Miss Chinatown 2014 Nicole Cordoves took home both the Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown awards.

Organizers of the competition said that holding Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2014 is set to open doorways towards unified communities and better goals–beginning with a celebration of the shared values of the Filipino and Chinese communities and cultures, ultimately geared towards strengthening the fusion of the two in honing and shaping the potential of a new generation.
