OPPO has been facing criticism for pricing its smartphones on the higher side, but the company seems unfazed by these remarks. With the release of the OPPO Reno11 5G, the brand aims to provide a compelling value proposition in the mid-range segment.

Build quality and design

One of the standout features of the OPPO Reno11 5G is its premium build quality. The device features a combination of metal and plastic materials, resulting in a solid and flagship-like feel.

The glossy rear panel manages to avoid being a fingerprint magnet, which is a welcome addition. The camera island layout is similar to its predecessor, the OPPO Reno 10, but the overall design looks and feels high-end.

Display and performance

The OPPO Reno11 5G sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of 800 nits. While the display remains curved like its predecessor, it is slightly brighter than the Reno 10.

In terms of performance, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which falls short of the 600K AnTuTu benchmark score typically expected in this price range.

Camera capabilities

OPPO has invested heavily in the camera hardware of the Reno11 5G. The device features the Sony LYT-600, one of Sony’s newest imaging sensors.

OPPO’s software optimization has traditionally been impressive, and the company is known for delivering natural-looking and not overly processed photos and videos.

For videos, the OPPO Reno11 5G comes with OIS and boy, the LYT-600 delivers a clean and crisp video feed at 1x. Audio is no slouch either.

It does struggle a bit when you start to zoom in – post-processing artifacts start to become more obvious once you go around 2x, though it’s still usable for social media posting. Artifacts also appear when you switch to the ultrawide lens, which means that the image processor and software is performing some heavy upscaling to compensate for the lower quality images coming from the sensor.

Low-light performance is noisy for both the main and selfie cameras. Nothing surpsiring there really, after all, these are budget sensors we’re talking about.

Software and battery life

On the software side, the OPPO Reno11 5G runs on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14. OPPO offers three years of major OS updates and four years of security updates, which is an upgrade from their previous offering. This extended software support ensures a longer usable lifespan for the device.

Additionally, the phone’s battery life is impressive, with benchmarks showing close to 14 hours of continuous usage on Wi-Fi.

Conclusion

While the OPPO Reno11 5G impresses in many aspects, it lacks certain features commonly found in its price range, such as an official IP rating for water and dust resistance. However, the device excels in providing great value for its price tag when compared to its predecessor, the OPPO Reno 10.

Overall, the OPPO Reno11 5G presents a solid mid-range offering with a premium build, capable camera system, and extended software support. While it may not excel in raw performance, the device delivers a compelling value proposition for those seeking a well-rounded smartphone experience in this price segment.
