OTJ: The Series With Exciting Cast This December on HOOQ

Back in 2013, director Erik Matti helmed a crime thriller film “On the Job” which paired Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson with Joel Torre, Shaina Magdayao, Vivian Velez, Joey Marquez, Leo Martinez and many more talented actors. The film was also screened internationally not to mention in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

Three years later, the same director and producer are back via a six-part mini-series with streaming service thru HOOQ and Globe Telecom’s Globe Studios.

Just recently, HOOQ, Asia’s first and largest premium video-on-demand service today revealed the cast of the highly anticipated On The Job mini series.

I am personally happy for some of the cast who I know and are great friends like Teroy Guzman who plays SISOY a media veteran in his fifties, Nonoy Froilan who plays the role of PEDRING a politician, Bela Padilla is PAM a feisty journalist, and Neil Ryan Sese is ROMAN, the hired gun. Also part of the stellar cast are Arjo Atayde, Smokey Manaloto, Dominic Ochoa, Jake Macapagal, Levi Ignacio, child actor Nafa Hilario Cruz, Renz Fernandez with Christopher de Leon and Leo Martinez who was part of the original movie cast.

The six-part series is co-produced by Reality Entertainment the independent film outfit of Matti and Dondon Monteverde in partnership with Globe Studios.

Globe Senior Advisor for Consumer Business Dan Horan furthers, “‘We are very excited to finally start production of this new venture as it strengthens our commitment to provide the best content for our customers whether they are at home or on mobile. From partnering with content producers, we are now taking the next big step by co-producing all original materials, and Director Erik Matti’s OTJ series is the perfect choice given the success of its movie counterpart.’

“HOOQ Originals enhance our best-in-market content offering by adding exclusive local movies and TV series that are made for SVOD, and we are very excited to partner with both Reality Films as well as Globe to produce the first HOOQ original here in the Philippines,” says Krishnan Rajagopalan, HOOQ Co-Founder and Chief Content Officer.

“It is a dream of mine to be a journalist. And my roles in these movies gives me that chance to become one.” shares Bela Padilla.

‘It’s about time that we expand the themes that we started in the original On The Job movie,’ states award-winning director/producer Erik Matti.  ‘Creating a mini-series exclusively for a video-on-demand service like HOOQ will allow us to explore unique stories that will be sure to pull in viewers who will want to get more immersed in this compelling world we’re building.”

Direk Erik also personally spoke with each of his cast to brief them on their respective roles. He’s got a dream cast!

For HOOQ, this is the first venture into producing original content. It is a natural alignment to HOOQ’s content strategy to differentiate its content and to play a part in growing the local content industry.

We have always known Smokey Manoloto as a tested and proven comedian even when he started in showbiz. Now his dramatic chops
are put to test as well for On The Job: The Series. He shared that he was already offered twice by Direk Erik  for a dramatic role.
The very busy Christopher de Leon will add thrill to this exciting series. Good luck and have fun!
Congrats Sir Teroy! So happy for your mini series debut….and it’s digital!

Arjo’s lovely sister Ria is very happy to be included in the cast. Being the daughter of dramatic actress Sylvia Sanchez, this mini series will give her a chance to show her acting skills together with seasoned and brilliant actors.

HOOQ will be releasing OTJ in the Philippines and internationally to its other markets such as Thailand, India and Indonesia.

HOOQ currently holds the largest catalogue of Filipino content of any video-on-demand service from top local studios like GMA, Viva Communications, Regal Entertainment, and ABS-CBN. It has also increased its kids content throughnew partnerships withViacom, Hasbro, MoMax, amongst others.HOOQ has also recently unveiled a mobile-first UX that enables customers to easily find movies, create playlists and discover even more content.
