Pandiwa is a two-day congress that aims to bring together young writers from tertiary schools in Southern Tagalog. This will be held on June 10-11, 2017 at the Continuing Education Center (CEC), University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Laguna.
By acknowledging that every writer has a duty to his or her country and fellow citizens, the UPLB Writers’ Club established a regional writing congress. The past congresses were graced by Dr. Bienvinido Lumbera, Jun Cruz Reyes, Gelacio Guillermo, Vim Nadera among other intellectuals and big names in the field. On its fourth year, Pandiwa continues to offer a wide range of learning opportunities for young writers because it serves as a platform for meaningful literary discourse.
The theme Panitikan at Diwa Laban Sa Kultura ng Karahasan highlights literature as an instrument against the culture of violence that plagues our society today.
The congress is dedicated to both basic and advanced literary courses with several talks from our resource speakers. Some of the sessions include creative and non-fiction writing, gender-related literature, graphic literature, literary criticism, poetry writing, short story writing and writing for children.
The last day of online application is on June 6, 2017 (Tuesday), 11:59 PM. The registration fee of Php 1,000 is already inclusive of event pass to the plenary, classroom discussions and cultural night, event kit, meals for two (2) days and one (1) night accommodation.
