Pangako Sa ‘Yo Remake Airs May 25

One of my all-time favorite love teams on television was the pairing of Jericho Rosales and Christine Hermosa. Such a nice
couple! That was like in 2000, when they were paired by ABS CBN to do “Pangako sa ‘Yo” one of the best and longest teleserye that time.

And 15 years later, who would have thought that the endearing and triumphant story of Pangako sa “Yo comes back to life this time headed by today’s hottest and popular love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla aka #KathNiel to most of their solid and loyal fans and supporters.

Together with #KathNiel are Jodi Sta.Maria (as Amor Powers) originally played by Eula Valdez, Angelica Panganiban (as Claudia) portrayed then by Jean Garcia and Ian Veneracion (as Eduardo) done in 2000 by TonTon Gutierrez.
Jodi, Angel and Ian are all very thankful they were given the chance by ABS to re-live such astig characters.

Hlmed by three of the best directors in the country Rory Quintos, Dado Lumibao, and Olivia Lamasan, the story of
“Pangako Sa’Yo” revolves around the promise made to each other by a cook named Amor and a young man who grew up in a wealthy family named Eduardo. Because of his family’s protest against their relationship, Eduardo is forced to leav
e the woman he loves the most and marry the woman his mother has chosen for him in Claudia.

After many years, fate and love will test Eduardo and Claudia’ son Angelo (Daniel) as he faces the same fate as his father when he meets and falls in love with a simple young woman named Yna (Kathryn).

According to Direk Olive, she and Direk Rory were the two original directors of the series. Direk Dado was head writer.

“We are all very excited about this remake. Kasi back then, iba ang set up and scenario,” shares Direk Olive. “The story is Filipino love story. Plus this cast is really something! Open sila sa mga possibilties pa’no pwedeng ma-improve in terms of delivery ng mga characters nila.”

“May mga ilang pagbabago sa istoya kasi in-update natin sa modern times ngayon,” says Direk Dado.

I must admit, I am not a die-hard #KathNiel fan but after seeing both Kathyrin and Daniel answer the presscon questions I must say I am now giggly with their new love team pairing.

Our media friends asked the pair if they are both ready to be doing mature scenes in this teleserye. Kathryn replied…

“Hindi naman po kasi tayo forever na magpapa-sweet darating din po kami sa more mature roles. Dito po sa Pangako, open naman po ako sa paglevel-up ng atake sa ilang mga eksena.”

What about Daniel? A lot of people have noticed physical changes in him like he gained more weight which I believe is in his favor. But when it comes to doing a lot of kissing scenes with Kathyrn in this serye, he seemed pretty evasive for a solid answer. I clearly remember that Jericho and Kristine had unlimited kissing scenes in the original.

“Abangan na lang nila!” he quips.

What I am also looking forward to in this remake are the confrontation aka sampalan aka sabunutan scenes between Jodi and Angelica which I am sure will be anticipated by everyone. Eula and Jean then became even more popular when they did those scenes in year 2000. The audience really felt they did justice to their roles because a lot of
people hated Jean Garcia for her role as Claudia. Effective acting, Ms. Jean!

Tonight is the night May 25 dear Kapamilya of the pilot episode and comeback of Pangako sa “Yo. Good luck to the cast, prod, crew and creatives.

“Pangako Sa’Yo” is under the production of Star Creatives, the group that created top-caliber drama series such as “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “Magkaribal,” “Lobo,” “Imortal,” “Princess and I,” “Got to Believe,” “Bridges of Love,” and “Forevermore”.

So don’t dare miss it! Sama-sama po nating tutukan ang Pangako sa “Yo…ang pagbabalik!

P.S. I must say that the grand presscon of PSY was one of the loveliest and romantic I have attended complete with tri colored roses and the dominant shade of pink onstage. Kudos to the crew, set designers and suppliers!
