Documentary program “Cheche Lazaro Presents” is bidding goodbye after enjoying a four-year run on ABS-CBN and producing quality documentaries that explored political issues, pop culture and social issues. It is airing its last episode this Sunday (June 22).

Anchored by seasoned and award-winning broadcast journalist Cheche Lazaro, the program has tackled diverse topics, such as Filipinos’ fondness for teleseryes, the government’s poverty-reduction strategy, the evolution of the Filipino language, homosexuality, and Filipinos’ natural musical talent.

It won Best TV Special award at the 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards and Best Documentary Special award at the 26th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television.

To cap off its remarkable run, Cheche probes marriage and the mysteries that surrounds love in “Cheche Lazaro Presents: Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso” in time for the wedding month.

Why do women fall for womanizers? Why do husbands go astray? Why do people fall in love and sometimes kill for love? Cheche attempts to to answer all these in the documentary.

Sharing their own experiences in the documentary are newlyweds Boots Anson Roa and Atty. Francisco “King” Rodrigo, and celebrity couples Christian and Winnie Monsod, who have been together for 53 years.

Radio DJ John “Papa Jack” Gemperle and marriage counselor Pastor Herald Cruz, meanwhile, provide pieces of advice on how to keep the love burning and maintain a strong marriage.

Psychiatrist Ma. Luz Querubin, anthropologist Jonathan Taduran, and human sexuality expert and psychologist Agnes Bueno also discuss the science of love. They redefine the common perceptions of love and explain how chemical processes in the brain and the sense of smell can lead to falling in love.

While the program successfully produced documentaries with compelling storytelling and extraordinary production values, Probe Productions Inc., the producer of “Cheche Lazaro Presents,” has decided to pursue other interests as an independent media production company.

Despite the departure of the program, ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs will continue to work together with Probe Productions Inc. in producing quality documentaries and long-form programs in the future.

Don’t miss “Cheche Lazaro Presents: Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso” this Sunday (June 22) on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
