Paulo Avelino positively surprised netizens with his unexpected role as Jacob del Rosario in “Flower of Evil”

MANILA, Philippines – Paulo Avelino’s surprise character reveal in “Flower of Evil,” which also stars Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe, elicited positive response from netizens who are already anticipating more gripping twists in the Philippine adaptation of South Korea’s hit thriller drama.

Paulo’s casting announcement created a social media buzz, as netizens called Paulo “the perfect choice” to portray the “real Jacob Del Rosario” – a mysterious individual that is currently in a coma inside a secret room in the home of his wealthy parents.

Paulo shared that he is grateful for the positive feedback, but admits that it was very challenging for him to give life to his complex character.

“I feel honored to do this project because it’s the first remake. I’m happy that they’re excited to see me do Jacob Del Rosario. But personally, I can’t say that I’m the perfect choice because I really had to study my role to make it work. I hope viewers really enjoy the outcome,” said Paulo.

Paulo also said that he is thrilled to portray a new character that is completely different from all of the other roles that he has portrayed throughout his career.

“I think it’s different from anything that I’ve done before. When the project was offered to me, I saw that I could add more twists to an already interesting role. It’s something new to me that’s why I was attracted to the role,” added Paulo.

Netizens are already excited for more pulse-pounding thriller episodes as the series teased a few scenes of Paulo as Jacob.

“OMG si Paulo talaga ang best choice! Iba talaga pag abs ang nag-isip! Sila lang talaga ang malakas!” commented Gidget Howser. “The look. The awra. Paulo, you’re gonna nail this one. I know. Mas lalo akong natakot,” tweeted @belleeynabsnabs.

“Paulo will do it again! Trust me he will deliver again in this role, even above and beyond expectations. Psychopath roles are one of his forte,” said Jace Anne Castri Recto.
