Nevada, USA – Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines gets crowned Miss Universe 2015 out of 80 competitors on December 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The win comes after a controversial announcement where first runner-up Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was incorrectly announced Miss Universe 2015 winner by host Steve Harvey, who later apologized for the confusion.
Gutierrez is followed by second runner-up Olivia Jordan from the USA.
The day before on Dec 19, Miss Philippines Hillarie Parungao placed 9th in Miss World 2015.
Earlier that month on December 5, Angelia Ong from the Philippines was crowned Miss Earth 2015 in Vienna, Austria.
The previous month, Janicel Lubina from the Philippines landed eighth in Miss International 2015.
The Philippines currently holds three Miss Universe titles in 1969, 1973, and 2015. USA holds the most number of wins with eight, followed by Venezuela with seven, and Puerto Rico at five.
A replay of the Miss Universe 2015 pageant will be aired on ABS-CBN Sunday’s Best on Dec 27. Replays will also be aired on SkyCable Lifestyle channel 52 on Dec 21 9PM, Dec 23 2PM, and Dec 26 at 12 midnight.
