Pinoy students get up close with next-gen BYD EV lineup in DLSU event

MANILA, Philippines (Feb 2025) – Electric vehicle maker BYD is bringing the future of mobility closer to young Filipinos, kicking off its first-ever campus showcase at De La Salle University (DLSU). The BYD Tech Tour, held from February 10 to 12 at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall Grounds, gave students and faculty a hands-on experience with the brand’s latest electric and hybrid vehicles.

BYD Cars Philippines, in partnership with official distributor ACMobility, showcased models like the Sealion 6 DM-i, Seagull, and Seal, highlighting their technology and sustainability benefits. The event also featured interactive exhibits and live demonstrations, allowing attendees to engage directly with BYD’s EV specialists.

Bringing EVs to the Next Generation

“As we continue to push for cleaner and more efficient transportation, we want to engage the next generation—young Filipinos who will drive the shift to sustainable mobility,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This tech tour brings our EVs closer to communities, sparking curiosity and conversations about the future of transportation.”

Visitors participated in hands-on activities designed to highlight the advantages of electric vehicles, from eco-friendliness to cost efficiency. BYD and ACMobility also gave away exclusive prizes, making the event both educational and engaging.

DLSU Eco Archers Team Unveils Zeta Urban Concept

Beyond the car showcase, the event also shined a spotlight on local innovation. The DLSU Eco Archers Team, known for competing in the Shell Eco-Marathon, presented the latest version of their Zeta Urban Concept vehicle. This was its first public appearance since competing in the 2024 Shell Eco-Marathon in Indonesia, underscoring Filipino ingenuity in energy-efficient transportation.

“BYD is proud to be part of this movement toward a greener future,” said Aiffy Liu, Country Head of BYD Philippines. “Through events like these, we hope to inspire young Filipinos to embrace clean energy and lead the shift to electric mobility.”

Following its success at DLSU, BYD will continue showcasing its electric vehicle lineup at major automotive events throughout 2025:

  • Manila International Auto Show (April 10-13)
  • Autofocus Test Drive Festival (May 8-11, November 6-9)
  • Philippine EV Summit (October 23-26)

Filipinos interested in experiencing BYD’s latest EV technology can catch these events to see the brand’s innovations firsthand.
