realme C75 review: Water damage is now a thing of the past

Have you ever destroyed a phone by accidentally getting it wet? We know how heartbreaking that can be because it happened to us too. Once, we unknowingly carried a phone into the shower, tucked away in a bag, and when the bag got wet, so did the phone. The damage was irreversible, and the frustration was unforgettable. Thankfully, smartphones like the realme C75 are now changing the game, offering peace of mind with unmatched durability and waterproof capabilities.

Durability: IP69 waterproof, ArmorShell Glass

The realme C75 takes waterproofing to the next level with its IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings. So what do these mean in real life? Let’s break it down:

  • IP69: The highest level of water resistance means the C75 can survive high-pressure water jets from any direction. Imagine it being blasted with water from a hose or jet spray—it can take it all, no problem.
  • IP68: This rating allows the C75 to be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. Dropped it in the pool? Accidentally knocked it into a tub? It’s no sweat.
  • IP66: This ensures it can handle strong water pressure, making it perfect for rainy adventures or accidental spills.

During our tests, we took the realme C75 through some extreme challenges. We placed it in a hot box—a controlled steam environment—to simulate high water temperatures of up to 80°C. The phone not only survived but continued recording video during the process. Even when the temperature hit 50°C and the device displayed a warning that it needed to cool down, the core functions remained operational.

Afterwards, we tested the SonicWave Water Ejection System, which uses sound waves and vibrations to expel water from the speaker grills. While it wasn’t visibly dramatic (since the steam had likely evaporated the water), the feature adds an extra layer of confidence when dealing with moisture.

Waterproofing isn’t the only area where the C75 shines. It’s TÜV Rheinland-certified as a rugged smartphone, meeting military-grade standards (MIL-STD-810H) for durability. What does this mean? It can withstand drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters onto surfaces like marble, concrete, or wood.

The phone is also equipped with ArmorShell Glass—an advanced material that offers exceptional impact and scratch resistance. During our tests, it shrugged off drops and impacts with ease. Whether you’re clumsy or simply adventurous, the C75 is ready to handle the rough and tumble of everyday life.

Battery and charging: 6,000 mAh with 45W fast charging

At the heart of the realme C75 is a 6,000mAh battery, one of the largest in its class. It’s built for endurance, offering up to 12 hours of video playback, 5 hours of mobile gaming, or even up to 24 days of standby. For those who live life on the go, this battery won’t leave you stranded.

When it’s time to recharge, the 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging is a lifesaver. In our tests, a quick 5-minute charge gave us 3 hours of call time, and it took just 90 minutes to fully charge the phone from 1% to 100%. Plus, the battery’s design ensures longevity, retaining 80% of its health even after 1,460 charge cycles (around 4 years of daily use).

And if you’re ever in a pinch, the C75 supports reverse charging, allowing you to use it as a power bank to charge other devices.

Dual SIM and expandable storage

One of the realme C75’s standout conveniences is its triple-card SIM tray, which supports two SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously. If you’re someone who juggles multiple numbers for work and personal life, this feature is a lifesaver. On top of that, the expandable storage of up to 2TB means you’ll never have to worry about running out of space for your apps, photos, or videos.

The base model starts with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while the higher-end variant offers 256GB. With Dynamic RAM Expansion, the phone can borrow up to 16GB from the storage, giving you a total of 24GB RAM for smoother multitasking. We tested keeping 17 apps open at once, and the device handled it with ease, switching between apps without lag.

Gaming: Great for casuals

While the realme C75 isn’t a gaming powerhouse, it’s great for casual gaming. Powered by the MediaTek Helio G92 Max processor, it can run light to moderate games like Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile at stable frame rates.

For example, we played Mobile Legends at high settings and enjoyed consistent 60 FPS throughout matches. The Game Manager feature in realme UI made the experience more seamless, allowing us to block notifications, monitor real-time system stats (like GPU and CPU usage), and tweak performance settings with ease.

That said, heavier titles like Genshin Impact struggled at higher graphics settings, with frame rates dropping to around 20 FPS on average. For these games, lowering the settings significantly improves performance, but it’s clear the C75 is better suited for lighter, less resource-intensive gaming.

Camera: AI enhanced

The realme C75 features a 50MP main camera for casual photography. While it isn’t a standout performer in this department, it’s reliable for capturing everyday moments. In good lighting, photos come out sharp and detailed, especially when shooting landscapes or portraits.

The 8MP front camera is decent for selfies and video calls, though don’t expect groundbreaking results in low-light conditions. The camera’s software includes AI Smart Loop and Smart Image Matting, which add some creative flexibility when editing your shots.

For video recording, the C75 supports 1080p at 30fps, making it a solid option for casual vlogging or quick clips for social media. However, stabilization is limited, so handheld shots might appear a bit shaky.

Free call via Bluetooth

An underrated but handy feature is the Free Call functionality via Bluetooth. This allows you to answer calls on your connected Bluetooth device without touching your phone. Whether you’re driving, cooking, or working out, it’s a convenient way to stay connected while staying hands-free.

Verdict: Budget-friendly and durable

The realme C75 is a smartphone that’s built to last—literally. With its industry-leading waterproof ratings, rugged build, long-lasting battery, and practical features, it’s a great choice for those who need a reliable phone that can handle everyday challenges.

While it isn’t designed for heavy gaming or professional photography, it excels at being a dependable device for casual users. Starting at just PHP 8,999, the realme C75 offers exceptional value for its price, making it an easy recommendation for students, workers, and anyone looking for a worry-free smartphone experience.

If you’re looking for a phone that can take a beating, keep you entertained, and make life easier, the realme C75 is ready to dive into your life—literally and figuratively.
