Sharp Philippines donated air purifiers to clinics every Friday last February — here’s why it matters

MUNTINLUPA, Philippines (Apr. 2026) — Every Friday throughout February 2026, Sharp Philippines showed up at clinics and medical institutions across the country — not for a sales pitch, but to drop off air purifiers.

The company has completed a month-long CSR initiative that resulted in the turnover of Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifiers to multiple healthcare facilities, targeting waiting areas, consultation rooms, and treatment spaces where indoor air quality directly affects patient and staff safety.

The initiative focused on a practical gap in healthcare settings: clinics regularly receive patients with respiratory conditions, allergies, infections, and compromised immune systems, yet air quality management is rarely prioritized beyond standard cleaning protocols.

Sharp’s Plasmacluster Ion Technology works differently from conventional air filters. Rather than simply trapping airborne particles, the system releases positive and negative ions that actively neutralize airborne viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, and odors in enclosed spaces.

During each turnover session, Sharp representatives walked clinic staff through how the units work and how to maintain them properly — a step designed to ensure the donated equipment gets used correctly rather than sitting in a storage room.

Recipient institutions responded positively, with many noting that better indoor air quality complements their existing sanitation and infection control measures.
