SINGAPORE (June 2025) – Renowned Japanese composer Yasunori Nishiki is stepping into uncharted territory, crafting his first dark-themed soundtrack for the gothic RPG “Silver and Blood” – a dramatic departure from his typically upbeat compositions for hits like “Octopath Traveler” and “Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.”
The vampire-themed mobile game has already captured global attention, surpassing 6 million pre-registrations worldwide as players eagerly await its open beta launch on June 26, 2025.
“I’ve composed music for many RPGs before, but this is my first time working on a title with such a dark overall tone, which made this project a completely new challenge for me,” Nishiki revealed in a recent interview obtained by our editors. “I hope to bring out the best of my abilities and create music that would live up to the game’s artistic vision.”
The collaboration between MOONTON Games and Nishiki aims to immerse players in the haunting world of “Children of the Moon” – vampiric beings on a quest to return to their lunar homeland. The composer, known for lively melodies in previous works, embraced the game’s melancholic themes of darkness, mystery, and otherworldliness.
“When I first saw the Silver and Blood project proposal, I was immediately drawn to its stunning art style, rich worldbuilding, and deep narratives,” Nishiki explained. “It’s a work with remarkable depth and content.”
The soundtrack strategy focuses on subtle enhancement rather than domination. “In the story segments, the focus is on delivering the narrative to the player. Here, music takes on a more supportive role, subtly enhancing the mood from the background to help players fully immerse themselves in the story,” the composer noted.
Adding to the game’s musical appeal, popular Japanese singer Milet will perform the official theme song “Broken,” released today. The singer-songwriter, whose track “Inside You” achieved Gold status from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, brings her distinctive voice to the gothic universe.
