TFC celebrates OPM with OFWs in South Korea

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, January 29, 2020 – Overseas Filipinos sang out with pride with their 90s Pinoy rock idols at the Seoul OPM Festival 2020. The event, in media partnership with TFC, featured the classics from iconic vocalists Wency Cornejo of After Image, Cooky Chua of Color It Red, Lei Bautista of Prettier Than Pink, and Naldy Padilla of Orient Pearl.

Held on January 19, 2020, at the Hana Tour V Hall in Hongdae, Seoul, the music fest is the launching concert of the Pinoy Event Organizers Professional and Local Entertainers in South Korea (PEOPLES), a group composed of overseas Filipinos who share inclinations and passion in the various facets of entertainment. It was organized in partnership with the Pinoy Iskolars in Korea (PIKO), Association of Filipino Basketball Referees in Korea (AFREKOR), and Jacy Club Tours (JC Tours).

It wasn’t only the legendary musicians who took the stage. The audience were also entertained by the performances of local talents such as Verga Fatima Guingona, Yesha Pastrana, Jubane Mirasol, Team YOKO, Suga Daddy, DEF Jam, Chinitong Gala, Christian Saraos and Cris Rotor earlier in the show. Musical Director Gil Hizon and Stage Director ‘Donskie’ worked behind-the-scenes to produce a memorable rockfest.

The Seoul OPM Festival 2020 has become a convergence not only of music-loving Pinoys as demonstrated by South Korean-based Pinoys who showcased their talents. They commemorated the cultural festivities of their host country, as well as remember their fellow Filipinos who are in need. The gathering doubled as the community’s celebration of the Lunar New Year and a venue for relief efforts benefiting their ‘kababayans’ affected by the earthquake in Mindanao and volcanic eruption in Luzon.

TFC, who has always been at the forefront of promoting Philippine entertainment globally, greatly supports efforts that introduce Filipino music and talent to the world. An opportunity to do so in the land of Hallyu (or Korean Wave) is certainly much welcomed.

“It is with great joy that TFC can contribute to the success of such projects that our kababayans in South Korea have concertedly and passionately worked hard for. We believe in their mission to not only provide entertainment and foster camaraderie with our fellow Pinoys but also to showcase the Filipino talent and culture to our Korean friends,” says Area Manager for North Asia, Marx Mella.

During the event, the team was given the stage to present TFC’s newest offerings including the Enrique Gil-Liza Soberano starrer “Make It With You” and the action-drama “A Soldier’s Heart”. For more information on The Filipino Channel, visit www.mytfc.com and follow TFC Asia on Facebook.
