Toyota ATIV launch: Cheapest HEV sedan threatens PH market at P1.2M

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Oct 2025) — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is accelerating the push for electrified mobility in the Philippines with the introduction of the All-New Toyota ATIV subcompact sedan lineup, which includes the company’s most affordable Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) model to date. The move signals a strategic step by Toyota to make hybrid technology more accessible to Filipino consumers.

The new sedan complements the long-running Toyota Vios in the passenger car segment, positioned to deliver an “elevATIVe” experience for practical professionals and young families seeking their first vehicle or an additional one. The inclusion of the ATIV 1.5 HEV CVT variant is the centerpiece of the launch, with a starting price of PHP 1,198,000.

“The All-New Toyota ATIV is another statement of Toyota’s continued mission to bring electrified mobility within reach of more Filipinos,” said Elijah Sue Marcial, TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations. The executive noted that the ATIV is designed to simplify the choice of an electrified model by providing modern HEV features alongside Toyota’s signature reliability, safety, and ease of ownership. The model is built on Toyota’s commitment to quality, durability, and reliability.

The ATIV lineup features both hybrid and gasoline engine options. The 1.5 HEV CVT is equipped with a 4-Cylinder, in-line hybrid electric engine that delivers a combined system output of 111 HP, promising smooth acceleration and smart power delivery. Other variants include the 1.5 G CVT, 1.3 E CVT, and 1.3 E M/T, powered by efficient 1.3L and 1.5L gasoline engines with a choice of CVT or manual transmission.

Designed for the daily driver, the ATIV focuses on fuel economy, ease of maneuverability, and modern technology. The car boasts a bold fastback silhouette design and features like LED headlamps and rear sequential turn signals for the HEV variant. The cabin is equipped with elevated touches such as leather seats and a 10.1-inch Display Audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the HEV variant. A 7-inch digital multi-information display is also available.

In terms of safety, the HEV variant comes with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which includes features like Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. All ATIV models are equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and ISOFIX child restraint systems. Additional convenience features, depending on the variant, include an Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Hold, Push Start and Smart Entry, Wireless Charger, and Panoramic View Monitor.

The All-New Toyota ATIV, with a footprint of 4,425mm long by 1,740mm wide and a seating capacity of five, is set to go on retail sale nationwide in October 2025. Customers can view the new sedan up close during its launch event from October 24 to 26 at the BGC Amphitheater, High Street, Taguig City. The vehicle’s pricing across all variants is detailed in a press release obtained by our editors:
