PH BPO giant now runs on 63% renewable energy and it’s just getting started

METRO MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2026) — One of the Philippines’ largest employers quietly hit a significant green milestone last year, and the numbers behind it are harder to ignore than most corporate sustainability reports.

TP in the Philippines, formerly known as Teleperformance, raised its renewable energy consumption to 63% of its total nationwide electricity use in 2025, up from 60% the year before. The figure covers all 26 of its sites across the country and marks another step in what the company describes as a decisive shift away from conventional power sources.

“The three percent increase in our renewable energy consumption within a year showcases how our deep commitment to sustainability translates into real and measurable results,” said Rahul Jolly, Chief Executive Officer of TP in the Philippines.

The energy transition is only part of the picture. According to the company’s 2025 Impact Report, TP also recorded a 52% reduction in total carbon dioxide emissions, with emissions intensity now at 0.25 tCO₂e per full-time employee. Measured against its 2019 baseline, that represents a 77% improvement — achieved while the business continued to grow.

Green buildings and cleaner infrastructure

Several TP sites operate inside LEED-certified facilities, including locations in McKinley, Aura, and Vertis North. Sites in Alabang Plaza E and Alabang Vector 3 carry both LEED and EDGE certification, which reflect optimized building design, efficient cooling systems, and responsible water management.

On the energy sourcing side, TP partners with Aboitiz Power under the Green Energy Option Program to supply renewable power to its Sucat and Bacolod sites. The company has also optimized its IT infrastructure, advanced equipment circularity initiatives, and donated used IT hardware as part of its broader sustainability push.

Its Cloud Campus work model, which allows employees to work remotely, has also contributed to a reduction in commute-related emissions while improving operational flexibility.

Bigger targets ahead

TP’s sustainability goals are tied to the Science Based Targets initiative and aligned with the Paris Agreement. The company has committed to sourcing 50% renewable energy globally by 2026 and 80% by 2030. It also aims to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 56.7% and Scope 3 emissions by 27.5% by 2030, using 2019 as the base year.

TP was also among the first 100 companies globally to sign the Climate Pledge, committing to net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 — a full decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s 2050 target.

Ed Punzalan, Facilities and Administration Vice President, framed the effort as one that goes beyond infrastructure. “Every percentage increase in renewable energy reflects thousands of daily decisions made by our teams,” he said, pointing to employee-driven programs under the Citizen of the World foundation and the Citizen of the Planet initiative as part of building a company-wide culture of environmental responsibility.
