MANILA, Philippines – Over the past few weeks there has been much discussion between government agencies over regulations and policies surrounding transport application Uber.
Just last October, the LTFRB apprehended an Uber driver in a sting operation, opening the debate on whether or not Uber should be considered part of the agency’s domain.
In response, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino defended Uber, comparing it to private transport services. In addition, the agency appreciates how the service helps address the lack of a good transportation system in Metro Manila.
Earlier today representatives from Uber had a dialogue with the Transportation Committee of the House of Representatives to discuss the situation.
