Despite her newly-found popularity, Lyca was not always the top choice. If you watch closely at the video of Lyca’s blind auditions where she performed “Halik” by Aegis, you will notice that coach Lea Salonga reacted immediately from the opening note, and about two seconds later coach Sarah Geronimo hits the red button to give her vote. Sarah then sings along while Lyca proceeds to rock the song, much to the audience’s delight.

Although coach Bamboo and Lea appear to be enjoying themselves, none of the two remaining coaches turned. When the song ended only coach Sarah gave Lyca the vote, automatically putting her in Sarah’s team.
This same scenario almost happened to The Voice Kids runner-up Darren Espanto, who earned Sarah Geronimo’s vote of confidence right from the very beginning, while the two remaining judges remain unsure. At the end of Darren’s blind audition though, coach Bamboo made up his mind to vote for Darren.
