MANILA, Philippines – Vilma Santos’ “Ekstra” and John Lloyd Cruz’s “The Trial” will be having a back-to-back screening on Cinema One this August 22 (Saturday), 9PM and August 23 (Sunday), 8PM for the cable channel’s blockbuster weekend treat.
“Ekstra,” a drama-comedy film which stars Vilma Santos, highlights the story of actors behind the limelight. The satire film chronicles the story of Loida ( Vilma Santos), a single parent and a TV show bit player who has great determination to get a breakthrough role despite her age.
The film won several awards including a Bronze award as the Best Feature Film in the 2015 New York Festivals. “Ekstra” will have its cable TV premiere on Sunday at 8PM.
Meanwhile, “The Trial” follows the life of Ronald Jimenez, Jr. (John Lloyd Cruz), a man withintellectual disability who faces the biggest hurdle in his life upon being accused of raping a school teacher (Jessy Mendiola).
John Lloyd Cruz’s drama film received rave reviews and received awards and nominations at the 17 thGawad Pasado and the 31st PMPC Star Awards for Movies. It will air on Cinema One this Saturday at 9PM.
