QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Jul 2025) – A new wave of electric vehicles is changing how we look at cars, turning them from simple transportation into statements of personal style. The VinFast VF 7, an all-electric SUV, signals the rise of the “fashion SUV,” designed for a younger, eco-conscious generation that sees their ride as an extension of their identity.
Automakers are now crafting vehicles that look as much at home in a design museum as they do on the road. Electric vehicles, free from the design limits of traditional combustion engines, have become the ideal canvas for this evolution.
The VF 7, from Vietnamese manufacturer VinFast, is a prime example of this new philosophy. Designed by Italy’s renowned Torino Design, the C-SUV was inspired by the sharp lines and bold forms of supersonic aircraft. Its design, which took over 80,000 hours to perfect, features a tapered roofline, hidden door handles, and widened proportions that are both visually striking and aerodynamically efficient.
This focus on design continues inside. Torino Design calls the interior philosophy “Asymmetric Aerospace.” It features a driver-focused cockpit that combines modern aesthetics with functionality, using clean lines and minimal physical controls.
This emphasis on style does not sacrifice performance. The VF 7 Plus model boasts 500 Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.8 seconds, delivering the powerful push-back-in-your-seat feeling many drivers crave. The Base model, equipped with a single motor, offers a practical range of up to 430 kilometers on a single charge. Both versions come equipped with modern safety features like hill-start assist, traction control, and adaptive cruise control.
Underpinning this design shift in the EV world is a new engineering freedom. Without the need for large engines and transmissions, designers can create sleeker profiles with smooth surfaces and sculpted silhouettes. Aerodynamics has become a key part of aesthetic identity, while distinctive LED lighting signatures now serve as brand identifiers. Interiors are becoming more open, utilizing sustainable materials like vegan leather to appeal to environmentally aware buyers.
VinFast, a subsidiary of one of Vietnam’s largest conglomerates, Vingroup, is expanding its network globally with a focus on markets in North America, Europe, and Asia, including the Philippines. A 10-year battery warranty on the VF 7 highlights the company’s commitment to durability and customer peace of mind, according to a press release obtained by our editors.
