Do you remember the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
It was for the benefit of the people with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. In our society today most of us don’t understand this kind of disease and here’s one movie that you should definitely watch to understand why is it hard for the patient as well as the people around them.
You’re not you is a story of how a stranger would be so caring to a patient of ALS despite of any blood relation to each other. Here you can really say that even when you are ready to die, when there’s one person that can make you positive about life and make you more stronger you will still continue to live.
Kate, the ALS patient played by Hillary Swank portrayed the role perfectly like she’s really on that situation. She fought with her sickness with a smile on her face and positive attitude like what Bec was trying to teach her.
On the other hand, Bec who took care of Kate played by Emily Rossum learned to be responsible on her life with the help of Kate too. She learned to value the friendship that they both have gained through the time that they were together.
Sometimes you don’t expect who will give you a hand in time of trouble and happiness. You just have to be true to yourself so that other people will know how to respect you and eventually like you.
