ASUS drops budget-friendly Zenfone 5 at P19,995

PASAY CITY, Philippines – ASUS has just dropped its newest mid-range smartphone – the Zenfone 5 – at only P19,995.

Read it again: nineteen thousand nine hundred and ninety-five Philippine pesos.

At a day and age where it’s almost normal to shell out upwards of Php 40k for flagship smartphones, ASUS is giving the Philippine market – and its competitors – something to think about.

Trailing behind is the quad-camera Zenfone 5Q, priced at P16,995. The Snapdragon 845-powered Zenfone 5Z, on the other hand, will set you back P29,995.

ASUS Global CEO Jerry Shen dubbed the Zenfone 5 as the most Intelligent Zenfones yet, with its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered cameras.

“It is time to give back to those who supported the ZenFones since the very beginning, and our way of gratitude is bringing everyone closer to the best mobile photography experience, which only our ZenFones can truly offer – after all, that is what we are most loved for,” Jerry Shen stated.

“Today, we have elevated mobile photography to a new level with the ZenFone 5’s AI-powered cameras, and we are proud to introduce the dawn of Intelligent ZenFones that are sure to give you the greatest photography prowess smartphones can offer.”

ASUS also touted the all-screen display found in the Zenfone 5 and 5Z, which fits a 6.2-inch screen in a 5.5-inch body for a 90% screen-to-body ratio.

The ZenFone Max M1 also debuted at the event. Titled the “Battery King for Photographers”, it sports a dual rear camera and a 4,000 maH battery housed in a 5-inch design.

Priced at PHP 8,995.00, the ZenFone Max M1 will arrive in the coming weeks.

The ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Q are officially available nationwide beginning April 14, 2018. ZenFone 5Z will hit the market by June 2018.
