“2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten”, “Lily” Emerge Big Winners at the Cinema 1 Originals Awards

It is that time of the year when Cinema 1 Originals film entries take centerstage and get credit where it is due. This year’s awards night last November 20, 2016 was held as usual at the Dolphy Theater. The seven entries in the Narrative Feature Category include Tisay, Baka Bukas, Lily, 2 Cool 2 be 4gotten, Si Magdalola at ang mga Gago, Every Room is a Planet, and Malinak La’y Labi. 

The film line up this year are all very interesting and really has a Smegged by young and budding directors of the industry most of which I haven’t met yet! And the jury has spoken and below is the roll call of winners:

Best Film – 2 Cool to Be 4gotten

Special Jury Prize – Si Magdalola at ang mga Gago

Best Director – Keith Deligero, Lily

Best Documentary – Forbidden Memory by Teng Mangansakan

Special Citation Award – People Power Bombshell: The Diary of Vietnam Rose
Audience Choice Award – Baka Bukas

Champion Bughaw Award – Tisay

Cinema One Minute Student Film – No Seguir

Best Actress – Jasmine Curtis–Smith, Baka Bukas

Best Actor – Rocky Salumbides, Lily

Best Screenplay – Jose Abdel Langit, Malinak Ya Labi

Best Sound – Andrew Milallos, Baka Bukas

Best Music – Francis De Veyra, Tisay

Best Editing – Lily

Best Production Design – Michael Español, Tisay

Best Cinematography – Carlos Mauricio, 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten

Best Supporting Actress – Natileigh Sitoy , Lily

Best Supporting Actor – Jameson Blake, 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten

Best Short Film – Maria

Director Tikoy Aguiluz handed out the winners of the Special Jury Prize and the Best Picture. Meeting him was surreal!

Cinema One Channel Head Ronald Arguelles is grateful and thankful to the growing number of movie goers patronizing indie films. He reminds that the festival is still ongoing until the 22nd of November.
