Onward with more Philippine independent films! I am so excited…again!
Recently launched at the SM Aura SkyPark, #SinagMaynila2016 is back on its second year with five exciting new feature films from five incredible directors. And the viewing public can catch these films from April 21 to 26 only at select SM Cinemas. If I were you, do schedule your viewing dates accordingly so you won’t miss any of the entries.
Direk Mes De Guzman pose with one of his actors, Liza Dino-Seguerra for the film, DYAMPER. Other stars include Alchris Galura, Carlo Aquino, Tim Mabalot, Kristofer King and Debbie Garcia.
T.P.O. (Temporary Protection Order) director Jay Altarejos is high and proud of his latest work for Sinag Maynila. His actors include Mara Lopez, Oliver Aquino, Menggie Cobarrubias, Lui Manansala and Mirko Laurente. Your boy-next-door youthful director Gino M. Santos does a first! LILA is this year’s one and only horror film entry. Starring Janine Gutierrez, Enchong Dee, Miggs Cuaderno, Sherry Lara, Kate Alejandrino and Socrates Jose. Watch out for Enchong Dee in the horror flick entry LILA directed by Gino M. Santos. Director Adolf Alix Jr. is proud of his actor Ms Lotlot de Leon on her work for their entry MRS. Other luminaries include Elizabeth Oropesa, Anita Linda, Mark Herras and Rosanna Roces. Perhaps the most hardcore action entry to date, EXPRESSWAY lead actor Aljur Abrenica is only but high praises for his director Ato Bautista. Expect to see Alvin Anson, RK Bagatsing, Kiko Matos, Japo Parcero, Arpee Bautista, Inez Bernardino and Jim Libiran in their acting best! Direk Gino with his stars Enchong Dee and Janine Gutierrez with Sherry Lara for the horrific LILA.
More details on all five films to follow in my next articles, including thoughts from its awesome directors! Considered as the #SinagMaynila godfathers, Festival Director Brilliante Mendoza with CEO and Founder Wilson Tieng are very pleased that their independent film festival is back on its second year and whose collaboration resulted in stories that reflect the Filipino culture while illustrating messages that will resonate globally.
“The exposure of the filmmakers in other countries brings pride and honor to Sinag Maynila and to the Filipino Filmmakers as a whole,” shares direk Brilliante.
Come and watch these five exciting entries at select SM Cinemas from April 21 up to 26 only. It certainly is not to be missed if you’re into indie flicks!
Looking forward to be seeing them all.
