MANILA, Philippines (Jun 2025) – Netflix’s survival thriller “Squid Game” is coming to mobile gaming as Garena Free Fire announces a major crossover event to celebrate the battle royale game’s eighth anniversary.
The collaboration drops July 14, just weeks after the highly anticipated third and final season of Squid Game premieres globally on June 27. Filipino gamers, who make up one of Free Fire’s largest player bases in Southeast Asia, will get to experience the Korean drama’s deadly children’s games in a new digital arena.
“We are thrilled to partner with Netflix once again to bring the globally beloved Squid Game into Free Fire,” said Harold Teo, Free Fire producer at Garena. The partnership reimagines the show’s mysterious games for the battle royale format.
Players can participate in digital versions of the series’ most iconic challenges, including the nerve-wracking “Red Light, Green Light” game that opened the first season. The crossover also introduces Squid Game’s signature pink and teal tracksuits, guard masks, and character voicelines as collectible items.
Free Fire has dominated mobile gaming charts as the most downloaded battle royale game for six consecutive years. The title was also the world’s most downloaded mobile game in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024, according to Sensor Tower App Performance Insights.
The timing aligns perfectly with growing anticipation for Squid Game’s series finale. The Korean Netflix original became a global phenomenon, sparking countless memes, Halloween costumes, and real-world recreations of its games.
Garena plans to release more collaboration details in coming weeks through its official channels. The game remains free to download on both App Store and Google Play.
