NAIC, Philippines (Jun 2025) – Toyota Motor Philippines has officially endorsed a major insurance company’s vehicle dismantling facility in Cavite as part of a global initiative to tackle automotive waste and build a circular economy in Southeast Asia.
Standard Insurance Co., Inc. became the second facility in the Philippines to join Toyota’s Global 100 Dismantlers Project, representing a PHP17.8 million private sector investment in responsible vehicle lifecycle management.
The facility in Naic, Cavite processes an average of 850 end-of-life vehicles annually from Standard Insurance’s portfolio. Spanning 8,840 square meters at the company’s technical training center, it can dismantle up to six vehicles daily.
“We are very grateful to Standard Insurance for its voluntary resolve, making Toyota customers also feel assured with a proper place for end-of-life vehicles to go,” said Toyota Motor Philippines President Masando Hashimoto during the endorsement ceremony.
End-of-life vehicle dismantling facilities form the backbone of automotive circular economy efforts. They ensure scrapped vehicles are processed responsibly by safely managing hazardous materials while maximizing resource recovery for manufacturing cycles.
The endorsement strengthens the Philippines’ capacity for responsible vehicle disposal. Standard Insurance joins En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation in Pampanga, which received Toyota’s first Philippine endorsement in September 2024.
Standard Insurance has partnered with Toyota through the ‘Toyota Insure’ program since 2021. The facility becomes the fifth Toyota-endorsed dismantler in Southeast Asia under the global project.
“Our collective efforts are a clear testament to our long-term commitment to carbon neutrality and establishing a recycling-based society under the global Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050,” Hashimoto added.
The Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project seeks to establish proper dismantling operations worldwide to address environmental challenges including pollution and resource depletion through responsible disposal and recycling practices.
