MANILA, Philippines (July 2026) — Cars are no longer just machines to get from one place to another. At this year’s Philippine International Motor Show, they also became canvases for one of the country’s most recognizable artists.
Nissan Philippines and internationally acclaimed Filipino artist Quiccs Maiquez reunited at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) with an expanded art collaboration that blends automotive design, street culture, and collectible art.
The latest exhibit builds on the partnership first introduced during the Nissan Festival in February, where Quiccs reimagined Nissan vehicles using his signature visual style inspired by designer toys and pop culture.
Four electrified vehicles, four unique personalities
For the new showcase, Quiccs created original artworks inspired by Nissan’s electrified lineup, matching each piece with the color palette and personality of its corresponding vehicle.
The collection features the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER, Nissan Kicks e-POWER, Nissan Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid, and Nissan Primera EV.
Rather than simply illustrating the vehicles, Quiccs transformed each one into its own character.
“The X-Trail e-POWER has a refined and adventurous character, the Kicks e-POWER feels youthful and energetic, the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid brings strength and capability, while the Primera EV represents a bold vision of the future,” Quiccs said.
He added that the goal was to capture each vehicle’s unique personality while maintaining a consistent visual identity across the collection.
Where cars meet collectible culture
Known globally for his TEQ63 character and designer toy creations, Quiccs said the project gave him an opportunity to explore the similarities between automotive design and collectible art.
Instead of treating the vehicles as transportation alone, he focused on the shared principles of shape, color, attitude, and storytelling that define both disciplines.
The collaboration highlights how thoughtful design can create emotional connections, whether someone is behind the wheel or displaying a collectible on a shelf.
A different way to experience Nissan
For Nissan Philippines, the collaboration reflects its effort to connect with audiences through creativity and culture, not just technology.
Nissan Philippines President Yoshinori Kanazawa said the partnership celebrates creativity and self-expression by bringing together automotive innovation and contemporary art in a way that resonates with enthusiasts, collectors, and pop culture fans.
The exhibit also shines a spotlight on Filipino creativity, showing how local artists continue to influence global design conversations across industries.
