MANILA, Philippines (July 2026) — If you’ve cried to an OPM ballad in the last two decades, chances are Jonathan Manalo wrote or produced it. The songwriter-producer and Recording Academy voting member has now crossed 10 billion all-time streams.
Manalo has surpassed 10.2 billion streams across Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube as of June 25, based on Muso AI data. The catalog behind that number spans generations, from Gary Valenciano, Lea Salonga, and Martin Nievera, to Sarah Geronimo, Moira Dela Torre, SB19, and BINI.
“Every stream represents a listener who connected with a song, a story, a melody, or a moment that meant something to them,” Manalo said.
A Bigger Stage for Asian Music
The milestone comes as the Recording Academy introduces the Grammy Award for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, a category Manalo sees as a turning point for the region.
“Filipino music has always been rich in talent, storytelling, and artistry,” he said, adding that the new category could put more of a spotlight on homegrown excellence.
Among his most recognizable credits are “Tara Tena,” “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,” “Pagbigyang Muli,” “Patuloy Ang Pangarap,” and “Pinoy Ako.”
