TAGUIG CITY, Philippines (Jun 2026) — Fortinet is bringing ASIC-accelerated firewall performance down from the data center to the enterprise edge with two new FortiGate G Series models.
The FortiGate 3500G and FortiGate 400G are built for organizations running AI workloads, encrypted traffic, and distributed networks that no longer fit inside a single perimeter.
FortiGate 3500G: data center scale, verified trust
The 3500G targets high-density data center environments. It provides 400Gb connectivity, advanced ASIC acceleration, and hardware-level firmware enforcement. Fortinet is selling it as a shift from “assumed trust” to “verified trust,” with built-in transparency for zero-trust architectures.
Performance-wise, Fortinet claims the 3500G delivers firewall throughput of 595 Gbps, well above competing midrange firewalls in its class.
FortiGate 400G: edge security without disruption
The 400G brings the same G-Series performance to midrange and distributed enterprise sites. It is designed as a drop-in upgrade for existing FortiGate deployments, keeping operational consistency while handling encrypted and east-west traffic at higher loads.
Both models run FortiOS and integrate with Fortinet’s AI-driven Security Fabric, including shadow AI detection and FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services that use machine learning to prioritize threats.
Why this matters for IT teams
Legacy firewalls often force a choice between performance and protection once advanced security services are enabled. Fortinet says the G Series removes that trade-off by offloading security functions to custom silicon rather than general-purpose processors.
For organizations modernizing toward AI-driven workloads or zero-trust segmentation, these models are positioned as a consolidation play: one platform from data center to branch, with consistent interfaces across the portfolio.
