Waiting in line or dealing with clunky payment apps to reload your phone might soon be a thing of the past for millions of mobile users. Local telecom giant Smart Communications is giving subscribers a new, easy, secure, and private way to buy Smart Prepaid or TNT load and pay their Smart Postpaid or Smart Infinity bill beginning Aug. 4.
As one of the first partners to welcome Apple Pay in the Philippines, Smart continues its tradition of bringing world-class digital innovations to Filipinos. The new payment option will be available at Smart Stores nationwide and through the Smart Online Store.
How Apple Pay works for Smart users
Apple Pay is available on supported Apple devices, including iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. After adding a supported credit or debit card to their Apple Wallet, customers can use Apple Pay to make purchases quickly and conveniently.
Apple Pay uses the built-in security features of Apple devices, including Face ID, Touch ID, and passcode authentication, helping keep every payment private and secure. When customers use Apple Pay, their actual card number is never stored on their device or Apple servers, and their card number is never shared with merchants, providing an additional layer of privacy and security.
“Smart has always been at the forefront of bringing world-class and life-changing innovations to Filipinos, and we’re proud to be among the first partners to welcome Apple Pay in the Philippines,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP and co-OIC at Smart.
