Tom Selleck is finally back on the small screen, and his first role since Blue Bloods ended is a reunion nobody saw coming: a Three Men and a Baby reunion with Ted Danson.
The reunion nobody expected
The 81-year-old star will guest-star on an upcoming, still untitled Apple TV+ comedy led by Elizabeth Banks, and Ted Danson is on board as her father. The last time Selleck and Danson shared the screen was the 1987 hit Three Men and a Baby, and the new project is being read as their long-awaited follow-up.
What the new Apple TV+ comedy is about
Created by Liz Heldens and Matt Ward, the series follows Heidi (Banks), a woman fresh off a messy divorce who tries to secure a lively second act for herself and her kids, only to stumble into coordinating her father’s retirement-community antics. The cast also includes Katey Sagal, Rob Delaney, and recurring turns from Michelle Buteau and Simu Liu.
- Show: Untitled Apple TV+ comedy (series order in place)
- Lead: Elizabeth Banks as Heidi
- Selleck’s role: Details still under wraps
- Danson connection: Reunites with Selleck for the first time since 1987
Selleck’s first job since Blue Bloods ended
Selleck played NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan across 14 seasons of Blue Bloods before CBS pulled the plug in 2024. He has been candid about the “frustrating” cancellation, noting the cast took a 25 percent pay cut to try to keep the show alive. The franchise lives on in the Donnie Wahlberg-led spinoff Boston Blue.
Why Filipino fans care
From Magnum, P.I. reruns to the beloved family-comedy classic Three Men and a Baby, Selleck has deep roots with Filipino viewers. The new Apple TV+ series lands on a platform that stays at PHP 369 a month here even after its US price hike and is quickly becoming a home for buzzy, star-led original series.
