Running Man regular Ji Ye-eun is getting married. The variety and comedy star and her boyfriend, dancer Vata, will hold their wedding in Seoul on December 12, and Filipino viewers who follow the hit Korean show now have a fresh reason to celebrate with her.
The announcement
Ji Ye-eun’s agency, CP Entertainment, confirmed on Wednesday that the couple will marry on December 12, telling Yonhap that the two “have promised to share their lives based on deep trust.” Vata’s label, Ara, separately said he “has met a precious partner” and that the pair are set to start a new chapter as husband and wife.
Notably, the chosen date is Vata’s birthday, making the December 12 ceremony in Seoul a doubly personal milestone for the couple.
Who is Vata
Vata, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyun, is a dancer and choreographer who leads the crew We Dem Boyz. The team finished as runners-up on Mnet’s dance competition Street Man Fighter in 2022, and Vata has since choreographed hit tracks including Zico’s “New Thing” and BLACKPINK member Jennie’s “Like Jennie.”
The love story
Both were born in 1994, making them the same age. According to The Korea Herald, the two first grew close through their shared faith at church before they began dating, and they made their relationship public in April this year after roughly a year of dating.
Ji Ye-eun has spoken warmly about Vata during appearances on Running Man and the talk show Pinggyego, while Vata has shared photos of her on social media, keeping the romance an open, widely-followed one among Korean entertainment fans.
From SNL Korea to a regular on Running Man
Ji Ye-eun graduated from Korea National University of Arts and made her acting debut in 2017 with the web drama “How To.” She rose to prominence on SNL Korea, the Korean adaptation of the long-running sketch series, before becoming a regular cast member on Running Man, where she is a fixture to this day.
