SINGAPORE (Sep 2026) – Deploying community-built artificial intelligence tools inside company networks can open dangerous security gaps, which is why a new vetting process called the CyberAgents Exchange AI Inspector (Exchange Inspector) by Tenable and OpenAI is stepping in to inspect AI agents, skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and multi-agent playbooks before they go live.
Unveiled during OpenAI’s Intelligence at Work: Cyber Summit, the system gives enterprise defenders a way to evaluate open-source AI tools before allowing them into sensitive systems. The initiative grew out of Tenable’s work within the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network.
How the security inspection works
The Exchange Inspector blends three layers of defense: advanced reasoning from OpenAI GPT cyber models, automated skills evaluation through Tenable One AI Exposure, and hands-on review from Tenable security researchers.
This multi-layer approach helps tech teams spot hidden risks and prioritize fixes quickly. Eric Doerr, chief product officer at Tenable, explained that agentic AI can only reach its full potential in business if security teams fully trust the components entering their environments. He noted that combining OpenAI cyber models with Tenable security expertise creates a far more rigorous way to evaluate community-built AI tools before enterprise adoption.
A growing hub for enterprise AI tools
The registry itself, known as the CyberAgents Exchange, launched in August 2026 as an open-source cybersecurity catalog. Following a recent SWARM build event at Black Hat USA, the platform now hosts more than 100 community-contributed AI components.
