The technology will be adopted through Globe At Home, a fixed wireless broadband service, which will boast lower latency, better, capacity, and download speed rivalling fiber Internet connection.
“Air Fiber Internet, which makes use of fixed location wireless radios instead of fiber, could provide speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps,” Cu said.
The company has been laying out the infrastructure for 5G since 2016 amidst multiple challenges preventing successful deployment of fiber optic cables, including the securing of permits from LGUs,
“We can bring the Internet to more homes by deploying 5G compared to a typical fiber optic roll-out,” Cu added.
