My Zenaya Aesthetics Experience

Reasonably priced luxury treatment – that is what the newly opened aesthetic clinic, Zenaya Aesthetics, promises its clients like myself, who only wish to enhance their looks and have proper “me” time, without bleeding out their bank accounts. I’m all for character and personality, but being totally comfortable and confident with your physical appearance, is certainly is welcome bonus. We've worked hard for the moola and it won't hurt to treat ourselves with little luxuries from time to time. After all, it isn’t really just about aesthetics, it’s  more of getting that feeling of total well-being, of being cared for and pampered.

Before I give you the low down on my Zenaya experience, let me give you a little bit of background story. Zenaya, which recently opened last July 2018, is a baby venture of the young husband and wife tandem, AA and Jamie Alviar. Though both experienced in the entrepreneurial realm, Zenaya is actually their first major business venture as a couple. The idea of an aesthetic clinic didn’t simply come out a market trend study or what have you. It’s actually very personal to the couple, as both AA and Jamie love to look good and take care of their bodies. I mean who doesn’t, right? But if you can turn your passion into your future, then by all means, go for it! Both are very hands on on the business – from planning, to the construction, to deciding what color palettes should go on the walls, up to the little design touches, to marketing and even up to actually manning the clinic and personally attending to their clients. I must say that it was indeed a great pleasure to have met and somehow get to know a little bit about Jamie and AA. I just love how infectious their energy and their passion are.

So now, let's talk about my actual experience of their service. Zenaya Aesthetics is conveniently located in Pasong Tamo, corner Don Bosco street in Makati. The clinic is a bit small, but the space is well planned and chicly designed. The place is well lit and squeaky clean, with a very cozy and welcoming ambiance. And speaking of welcoming, what else could be more welcoming, than having the owners themselves usher you in and attend to you personally.

My problems for all seasons are my pimple marks, some pigmentations, large pores and dull complexion, so I ask my aesthetician, Ms. Anna, for the best possible treatment for my face that has no downtime, no peeling, no swelling and no complicated after care (because I simply don’t have the patience for any of those).  After analyzing my skin condition and probing about what my skin care routine are (which I really don’t have), Ms. Anna recommended that I try their Carbon Peel Treatment. So I got into the treatment bed and started to relax, while she explained what the treatment is all about.

There were 2 parts to the treatment. First, they cleaned my face (to remove any make up and surface dirt and oil) and then the liquid carbon or carbon mask is applied. Second part is the laser treatment. The principle is simple. Carbon, as we all know, has the ability to absorb contaminants and impurities, so it should work wonders on lifting up deep seated bad stuff on our skin.

After the carbon has done its work, the laser then zaps it out along with all dirt and toxins, while also tightening the pores and smoothening out fine lines. The entire treatment took around 45 minutes to an hour to my estimate. The carbon has to sit on the face for around 20-30 minutes to allow it to go deep into the pores, while the laser zapping took around 15-20 minutes.

So what is my verdict?

-With regard to the procedure itself, it was not totally painless, but totally tolerable. You will for sure feel something during the laser procedure (like little hands slapping you), but again it’s tolerable. The aesthetician will ask you anyway if you’re comfortable and if not, they will adjust the settings up to where you can tolerate.

-There was some slight redness right after the treatment, which quickly subsided after a few minutes.  As far as the results are concerned, well, there isn’t any immediate and noticeable change, apart from my pores looking a bit smoothened out and the disappearance of the fine hairs on top of my lips. Ms. Anna explained, that my skin will continue to improve in the following days, sort of like an after effect of the treatment. And like most other treatments, there has to be a follow ups of course. Ms. Anna said that with my skin’s state, I could use 1 to 2 more Carbon Peel sessions, to get my desired result of a clearer, glowing and younger looking skin. By the way, the recommended interval for each session is 2 weeks.

Overall, I can say I had a totally pleasant experience. The owners are very hands on and very welcoming, while the rest of the staff, especially the Ms. Anna and Ms. Phoebe who did the treatment on me did great as well. They were friendly and accommodating to all my questions. They explain every step, so I would know what to expect and they did very well in assuring I was comfortable all throughout.

It’s definitely a thumbs up for Zenaya Aesthetics. If you’re from Makati or you work near the area, Zenaya Aesthetics is definitely worth your visit. If you want to know more about their services or upcoming promos, do follow @ZenayaAesthetics on Facebook and Instagram.
