MANILA, Philippines – Star Cinema’s “A Second Chance” is now the highest grossing Filipino movie all time after raking in P566 million worldwide since it opened in theaters last November 25.

The highly anticipated sequel to 2007’s hit movie “One More Chance” topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo has taken over the combined local and international box office record set by the 2014 Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga-starrer “Starting Over Again.”

Aside from being a phenomenal hit, “A Second Chance” also created milestones in the PH movie industry being the first local film to earn more than half a billion in the box office.

It is also the first local film to be distributed in the United Kingdom by Vue Entertainment, the leader in premium entertainment cinema in the UK under Vue International, the world’s largest cinema group outside of the U.S. It was also screened in other major cinemas in Europe particularly in Milan, Rome, Messina, Padova, Paris, Madrid, and Vienna

“A Second Chance” tells the story of now iconic movie characters Popoy (John Lloyd) and Basha (Bea) after they gave their love ‘one more chance’ and got married. It showed a more mature side of their relationship and tackled issues very relatable to the general audience.

The film was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and also features Bea Saw, Janus del Prado, Ahron Villena, Dimples Romana, and James Blanco.
