Comedian and actor Archie Alemania has broken his silence over his separation from actress-host Gee Canlas, and his explanation has become the internet’s newest talking point. In a lengthy interview with showbiz veteran Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel, he described a marriage in which both partners wanted to rule, a clash he says eventually tore the family apart.
‘Pareho kaming hari sa iisang kaharian’
Archie, speaking in a mix of English and Filipino, said both he and Gee are Christians and that he tried to lead the household the way his faith teaches. He told ABS-CBN that the ideal was “husband love your wife, wife submit to your husband,” but that in practice “we were both kings in one kingdom,” which he said was the recurring source of their arguments. He added that he gave everything to appease her yet nothing changed, and that whenever he wanted to walk away, Gee would always stop him.
Part of the friction, he said, was over who made the family’s decisions. Archie cited wanting to move out of Gee’s family home after five years of living there, only to be overruled. “It was her decision again, not mine,” he said in the interview.

Archie and Gee married in 2018 at a garden ceremony in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and share one son, Caleb, who is now 7. The split went public in March, when Gee confirmed the separation on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”, saying she was the one who left and that she should have done so earlier. Archie said this week that he agrees, “for the sake of our peace.”

Custody and contact with Caleb
The actor also opened up about a painful estrangement from their son, saying he went about eight months without seeing Caleb until he spotted him playing in a park. He told GMA News that Gee has blocked him on social media, and that when he once emailed her to arrange a meeting with their child he received no reply.
Acknowledging a violent moment
In the same conversation, Archie acknowledged an incident of violence, saying that after a confrontation he raised a bottle and a tumbler at Gee in an attempt to silence her, and that he believes staying together “would have been much worse.” GMA News carried the account with a trigger warning for mentions of domestic violence. Gee had not responded to his latest statements as of writing.
