Get ready as the UPLB Economics Society brings you ECONVERGENCE, an annual inter-high school scholastic economic convention that aims to promote economics through the analysis of relevant social issues in the country.

For the past ten years, ECONVERGENCE has been well participated by various high schools nationwide. The various competitions in ECONVERGENCE have served as avenues for students to showcase their skills and knowledge in the application of economic concepts. In addition, Econvergence has served as a platform for enhancing the teaching of economics through its Economic Forum, an event held in partnership with the Department of Economics (DE) of the College of Economics and Management, UPLB.

This year, ECONVERGENCE 2016 will focus on the theme: “Making the Rational Choice: The Youth’s Role in Paving the Way towards Economic Development”. The event will held on 6-7 February 2016 at the Local Government Academy, Los Baños, Laguna.

Approximately 400 high school students and teachers from all over the country are expected to attend the two-day convention which includes seven (7) events namely: EKONOMIKA Quiz Contest, Intellectual Encounter Debate Competition, Essay-writing Competition, Poster-Making Competition, Impromptu Speaking Competition, Mini Documentary Presentation Contest, and Economics Teachers’ Convention (ETC).
