PHILIPPINES – Samsung Galaxy S10 series is now official. The company revealed its newest flagship Android smartphone at the Samsung Unpacked event held in San Francisco, USA on Wednesday.

Samsung will be releasing three Galaxy S10 variants in the Philippines: Galaxy S10 Plus will have the biggest screen of the three, coming in 6.4 inches. It is followed by the Galaxy S10, with its 6.2-inch curved screen, and an “entry-level” variant with a flat screen, the Galaxy S10E.

Galaxy S10 display

It is the first Samsung smartphone to feature an almost bezel-less 19:9 dynamic AMOLED screen with a “punch hole” located at the top right corner of the screen. It is also the first smartphone in the world to utilize ultra-sonic fingerprint scanning technology, unlocking the phone by touching the lower portion of the screen on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus.

On the other hand, Galaxy S10E will utilize a side-swiping fingerprint scanner similar to that found on the Galaxy A Series.

Dubbed the “Infinity-O” display, the Galaxy S10 achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and completely eliminates the need for a notch to allow the front-facing “selfie” camera to peek through.

Galaxy S10 camera

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus features an elongated, horizontal hole to make room for dual selfie cameras capable of taking 10 MP + 8 MP photos. Moving to the back, the Galaxy S10 Plus will have three cameras with varying focal lengths: a 12MP regular camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera capable of taking photos at an angle of 123 degrees, and a 16MP camera that takes photos at double (200%) the regular zoom.

Its smaller sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S10, packs the same triple-camera module as the S10 Plus as its main shooter, but with a single selfie camera up front.

Galaxy S10E, the smallest of the three, will have a single selfie camera and a dual-camera module at the rear.

Galaxy S10 5G: Galaxy Note 10?

Samsung also revealed that its engineering teams are currently working on a 5G-capable phone dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. It dwarfs the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, inching closely into Galaxy Note 10 territory with a 6.7-inch display, a 4,500 mAh+ battery, and a depth-sensing camera capable of capturing videos with simulated depth of field or “bokeh”.

Galaxy S10 performance

All Galaxy S10 models will come with Android 9 (Pie) with Samsung’s newest proprietary customization layer, One UI, out of the box.

Samsung did not provide official information on the chipset that will be used in the Galaxy S10 series, however, earlier leaks have revealed that it will have an 8-core CPU. Past releases of the Galaxy S10 series have shown a blend of both Exynos and Snapdragon SoCs, and there is no indication that the company will deviate from this model with the Galaxy S10.
