IEEE-MUSB announces the launch of its Annual IEEE Week for Engineering Students


MANILA, Philippines – The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Mapúa University Student Branch (IEEE-MUSB), hosting its annual IEEE Week from July 9-13 under the theme “A Confluence of Man and Machine.” Activities that will be held throughout the week will be aimed at promoting the emerging tech trend of Big Data, with a focus on how this field can be applied to improve data processing, machine learning, and advanced prediction.

Amongst the exciting activities to look forward to in IEEE Week 2019 are the Technical Seminars, hosted by both local and international experts in their respective fields, Digital Poster Making Competition, Inter-School Quiz Bee, and IEEE-MUSB’s 16th Project Design Competition. The 16th Annual Project Design Competition is the flagship event of the IEEE Week, as it provides an opportunity for Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering students to showcase their ingenuity and skill in creating effective prototypes. Students who will participate in the competitions will get a chance to win handsome prizes.

This week-long activity is open to all students, academe, and professionals, especially those coming from the Philippines’ IEEE Student Branches, specifically from De La Salle University – Manila (DLSU), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the East – Caloocan (UE), and Mapúa University – Manila (MU), which will be the Host School of the said event. Furthermore, this year, the Republic of the Philippines Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) has announced that IEEE-MUSB’s IEEE Week will be the official IEEE Week or flagship event of the IEEE Philippines Section.

The IEEE Week aims to help the students, instructors, and professors coming from the various IEEE Philippine Section Student Branches to interact with other schools and professionals regarding the advancement of technology, technological innovation, research, and growth of skill and knowledge in technical-related professions
