new South Route for LRT-1 ikotMNL Heritage Transit Tour
As the summer shines bright, LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) invites adventurers and history buffs alike to embark on a captivating journey through the city’s rich heritage with the launch of its new South Route for the LRT-1 ikotMNL Heritage Transit Tour.
In partnership with Renacimiento Manila, a cultural organization dedicated to preserving the city’s historical legacy, this exciting initiative offers a unique and convenient way to explore the vibrant south of Metro Manila.
Building on the success of the Central and North Route Tours, which have both engaged over 250 participants in over 20 tours conducted since the launch in October 2023, the new South Route promises an enriching experience, combining the ease of LRT-1 travel with insightful guided walking tours. The pilot run of the South Tour was held on 22 March 2024.
Tour participants will traverse from LRT-1 Central Station, exploring landmarks like Arroceros Park and the Metropolitan Theater, to Redemptorist – Aseana Station, offering exclusive access to the Baclaran Church gallery and bell tower. The journey continues on to Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station revealing the historical significance of its namesake and the rich heritage of Parañaque, including the Parañaque Cathedral and Diocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso. It culminates at Pedro Gil Station, delving into the University of the Philippines – Manila compound and the Philippine Independent Church’s Cathedral of the Holy Child.
