Music Meets Fashion at the Manila X Festival

There’s no explaining needed, fashion and music, they go together. The kind of music we listen to, we most likely dress up or accessorize like it, especially when you were younger. Most cliched example would be hip hop and metal.

Though as years go by, as people become more fashion and image conscious, this relationship between music and fashion has evolved into something more sophisticated, something more deliberate. We see this in the emergence of certain styles like festival dressing, like the ones we see from the Instagram feeds of Maxene Magalona or Anne Curtis during Coachella music events.

This is what Manila X Festival is pioneering in the local music and fashion scene. A fashion show and a music festival rolled into one! Expect a concert stage and a runway, musicians and models, the hottest musical performances in the midst of a full-blown fashion showcase!

During Manila X, festival goers are in for a treat: four fashion shows will have models walk the runway in four different fashion themes: Grunge, Coachella, Sleek and Activewear. Each show, scored by live musical acts, will be styled by one of Manila’s most sought-after celebrity stylists: Bang Pineda, John Paul Dizon, Myrrh Lao To, and duo Rain Dagala and Em Millan. Hip fashion retail website Zalora will also hold its own fashion show featuring its in-house brands. During this segment, the audience will be encouraged to purchase pieces worn by the models on the spot, entitling the live buyer to exciting discounts.

Under hip-hop, award-winning rapper Gloc 9 will definitely keep the audience tongue-tied in excitement. Fashion blogger and versatile singer Kiana Valenciano is a fresh inclusion to the line-up, while pop-rock singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino is sure to perform her hits. Manila’s most-followed DJs will also be on rotation.
