The newly appointed British Prime Minister, Theresa May today announced a new visa policy for 3 countries around the globe. The countries include Philippines, Republic of South Africa and Rwanda.

The announcement was after series of meetings held with the Rt. Hon Boris Johnson, who was appointed the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on 13 July 2016 and the Head of Foreign Missions of the 3 countries in the UK.

The decision took into consideration the Socio-Economic, Political, Foreign and Human Right Policies instituted over the past 60 months by the various countries, especially members of Commonwealth Countries. Out of about 15 countries which were under consideration, only 3 were approved for the visa free policy as outlined under the vision of the new Prime Minister who happens to be the immediate past Home Secretary.

She made this known when she addressed the House of Commons today about the Foreign Police of the new government. Out of the 15 countries that were under consideration, the Philippines scored the highest mark of 92% followed by South Africa with 84% and Rwanda with 81% based on the indexes. All the remaining 12 countries could make the minimum pass mark of 80%.

Under the new policy holders of passports of the 3 countries can travel to United Kingdom without visa for up to a period of 6 months. Under the same agreement, citizens of the 3 countries are eligible to apply for a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme) visa if you’re aged 18 to 30. The Youth Mobility Scheme allows eligible applicants to live and work in the UK for a 24 months period. Applicants under the scheme are required to have a savings of £1,890. Visa fees for the Scheme has also been waived the 3 countries.

Persons who abuse the opportunity by overstaying in the UK would be sanctioned with a 2 year travel ban. Stay tuned for more.
