The OnePlus 16 just took a big step closer to reality: an Oppo-linked phone carrying model number PYB110 has cleared China’s SRRC radio certification with N79 5G band support, and tipsters are confident it is the next OnePlus flagship. Here is everything we know so far.
PYB110 clears China’s SRRC certification
Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station claims the certified device is the OnePlus 16, spotted on the SRRC (State Radio Regulation Committee) database with model number PYB110 and support for the N79 5G band. The SRRC listing is a standard pre-launch step for phones sold in China, alongside TENAA and 3C certification.
That said, the exact identity of PYB110 has not been officially confirmed, and OnePlus has not yet announced the OnePlus 16 or a launch date. The certification is real; the model-to-name link is still tipster territory.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and a 165Hz display
Digital Chat Station previously tipped that a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro-powered phone would launch in October, widely believed to be the OnePlus 16, and the certification adds weight to that timeline. The device is also rumored to be one of only two phones in the series using that chipset.
On the display front, engineering samples reportedly use a 6.78-inch LIPO flat panel with ultra-narrow bezels. At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gaming Technology Awards on July 30, OnePlus China President Li Jie confirmed three exclusive gaming technologies will debut with the OnePlus 16, pointing to a 165Hz high-refresh display, a fast gaming kernel, and a triple-core e-sports processor setup.
A circular camera island could return
An early teaser has hinted at the return of a circular rear camera island, a notable design departure from recent OnePlus flagships. It would be a callback to the brand’s older design language as it refocuses on the Chinese market.
What it means for PH buyers
The China-first launch strategy is worth watching locally. OnePlus has been repositioning hard this year, and our own OnePlus analysis noted how the brand is folding into OPPO’s budget strategy, so a OnePlus 16 PH release is far from guaranteed. If it does arrive, expect the usual pattern: China launch first, then a regional rollout, likely months later.
