PHILIPPINES – OPPO’s ambition to be the first to roll out 5G products in the Philippines might come sooner, with the announcement of OPPO’s 5G ready smartphone at MWC this year, OPPO commercialized the Reno 5G smartphone in Switzerland, officially becoming the first smartphone brand to offer a 5G product in European market. It will be rolled out to additional markets worldwide over the coming months including the Philippines.
Along with it comes a vision set towards the future, OPPO already looks ahead to pioneering 6G technology.
As a pioneer in 5G technology, OPPO established its first dedicated 5G team in 2015 and has since been investing heavily in the next generation technology across areas such as standardization, R&D and applications.
Last April, OPPO successfully launched the revolutionary Reno series in the European market The Reno series includes Reno 5G, Reno 10x Zoom and Reno models, which all pack cutting-edge technology and exceptional photography into a unique, aesthetic design. One of the many distinctive features of OPPO’s newest smartphone is how it innovatively conceals the front-facing camera, soft light and back flash within a pivot rising structure that rises on demand.
OPPO Reno is expected to dazzle Filipino fans upon its Philippine launch this June.
With 5G just kickstarting its roll-out in the European market, OPPO spearheads technological advancement and lays out its vision for a future of connected intelligence at the 53rd IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), held in Shanghai from May 20th to 24th. Henry Tang, Director of Standards Research and Chief 5G Scientist at OPPO, delivered a keynote speech at the conference underscoring OPPO’s commitment to driving future generations of connectivity.
Tang offered a preview of a future where, “after the launch of 5G, as AI and telecommunications technologies continue to empower and improve each other, they will enable true interconnectivity between humans, things and intelligence.” While 5G will strengthen existing AI technology for human and system interaction, 6G will enable a more intelligent system that allows business to run largely without human intervention. 6G network will be AI-driven “smart” transmissions, which means devices will be capable of sharing and conveying AI messages among themselves. But much like many technological advancements, the industry needs to overcome a series of challenges to boost performance, such as dramatically improving speed, latency, reliability, coverage, energy efficiency, connection density, accuracy and security.
“With the iterative evolution of technologies, the whole of human society – and indeed the world around us – will realize an unprecedented level of interconnectivity. We at OPPO welcome and embrace this exciting new opportunity to help usher in a new era of connected intelligence,” Tang said.
