According to report of Kickerdaily, the tough-talking mayor, who is running on a platform of making the Philippines a crime-free country, said he will eradicate criminality if he gets to be the president of the country and he only needs 3 to 6 months to do it. He has been quoted several times as saying that he will order the police and the military to find the criminals and kill them. He said he will take full responsibility for deaths in the campaign against crime.

PNP Chief Marquez doubts Mayor Duterte could fulfill his promise. As mentioned in an ABS-CBN article dated April 1, 2016, Marquez pointed out that even the most advanced countries with the best police equipment have failed to completely eradicate criminality.

“Even the most advanced countries with the best police equipment, they have CCTV around them, but you know, drugs continue to happen even in the most advanced countries in the world. Crime will be a part of our lives,” he said.

Marquez disapproved Duterte’s plan to use the police to kill the criminals.

“The police can’t be executioners as it is against the core cause of police work, which is to serve and protect,” he said; adding extrajudicial methods never worked in the past.

Meanwhile, more celebrities are joining the bandwagon of Duterte supporters like Ellen Adarna, Aiza Seguerra, Robin Padilla, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, Apo singer Danny Javier, Camille Prats, Kristoffer Martin, Bangs Garcia, Gretchen Ho, Francine Prieto, Bryan Termulo and Angelica Panganiban, among many others.
