Though it has only been four months, it appears that the brand is not letting the pandemic slow it down, with realme 7 being the world’s first smartphone running on MediaTek’s new Helio G95 as well as the world’s first smartphone to attain TUV Rheinland product certification to attest to the brand’s commitment to performance and quality.

realme Philippines is preparing something exciting for the realme 7 series livestream launch on September 30 – in the meantime, read on for our hands-on first impressions review, or hit the play button above to watch our first-ever baby unboxing featuring the realme 7!

Out of the box, the realme 7 looks and feels just like the realme 6: you could even swap their cases and they would fit each other almost perfectly. For added protection, the phone comes with a pre-installed screen protector.

Both phones pack the same 6.5-inch 90hz IPS LCD display with that hole-punch notch that they like to call the “in-display selfie”, referring to the 16MP front-facing camera. The panel on our unit appears to have a slightly yellowish tint which is easily fixed by moving the color temperature slider under the display settings panel to the left (cool).

The edges also look identical, from the power button with its built-in fingerprint scanner to the I/O panel at the bottom which contains a 3.5mm audio port to the USB Type-C connector which supports 30W fast charging (VOOC / Dart Charge).

Users who need to use a micro SD card will be happy to know that the realme 7 comes with a triple card tray, so we get dedicated slots for nano-SIM cards along with the micro SD card.

Moving to the back, we find that realme 7 now sports a new, multi-layered chroma change look with a matte finish. The move away from glossy coating is a welcome change, as the realme 6 tends to become very greasy and smudgy over time, and the chroma changing design allows the phone to stay visually interesting despite being less flashy.

The area occupied by the camera area is much larger, although the hump remains about the same. The 64MP main camera uses a 2nd-generation Sony IMX 682 sensor, augmented by 3 additional cameras: 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor.

How much will the realme 7 cost in the Philippines?

realme Philippines will be revealing the price of the realme 7 during the livestream launch, however, we can make a few educated guesses:

  1. The realme 6 (8GB+128GB) was priced at 13,990 PHP, and the realme 7, having better specs, should be priced higher than that
  2. realme 7 Pro is also coming to the Philippines, but the price hasn’t been revealed yet
  3. The realme 6 Pro (8GB+128GB) was priced at 16,990 PHP when it came out 4 months ago

Given these factors, we can guess that the price of the realme 7 in the Philippines must be somewhere in between 14-17 thousand pesos.

Check back here on September 30 for the full review and price reveal!
