MANILA, Philippines – Bethe Correia (9-0, 2 KOs) finally gets her shot at the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title.
Brazil’s unbeaten “Pitbull” brashly challenged reigning champion Ronda Rousey (11-0, 2 KOs, 9 submissions) for the belt in the main event of UFC 190 to be held at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).
Hailed as the “World’s Most Dominant Athlete” by Sports Illustrated, the unbeaten Rousey has strung five successful defenses of her title, with her last three victories against top challengers Cat Zingano, Alexis Davis and Sara McMann clocking in a combined time of 96 seconds.
In Correia, who hails from Campina Grande, Rousey will face a striking specialist who kicked off her UFC career with a win against Julie Kedzie before notching back-to-back wins over the champion’s “Four Horsewomen” teammates Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.
