Last August 12 2015 the finalists and grand winner of It’s Showtime segment “Funny One” performed in front of the press giving them a sneak preview of what they have to offer. Tickle our funny bones of course.
One of the press asked what he would like to be remembered for and he replied “Hari ng dilim” with a laugh. He said most of his humor is based on dark comedy and he accepts the fact that not everyone will get his jokes. He’s happy to have 1 person out of four laughing, besides the fact that he wants to be loved by 1/2 of the world.
Ryan was also very humble the entire press conference and when asked if he thinks he is the up and coming best comedian of his time, he answered “Mas madaming magaling jan, hindi lang nadidiscover.
Swerte lang ako” (There are better comedians out there, waiting to be discovered. I was just lucky) and when asked what are his future plans, he has a 6 month contract with Star Magic and ABS-CBN and he said “Kung sawa na sakin ang tao, ituloy ko na lang stand-up ko saComedy Manila at ang pagiging writer” (If ever people get tired of me, I’ll stay with Comedy Manila and pursue being a writer).
Comedy Manila, is a brotherhood of comedians, no contracts signed. Just fellow comedian friends helping each other promote the Comedy Industry in the Philippines.
I on the other hand asked him if his rock and roll persona is what he is in real life, he laughed “Image lang to.. pero parang ganito na din ako sa totoong buhay” (It’s just an image, but I’m sort of like this in real life) which was puzzling, but funny at the same time.
In my opinion Ryan Rems won the audience’ hearts not only by his simple way of making jokes but because he makes jokes at himself and his daily experiences and not by making fun of others.
