This OPM band’s slow-burn love song just crossed 300K streams — and it’s only getting started

MANILA, Philippines (Jun 2026) — There is something quietly powerful about a love song that refuses to rush — and Pinoy listeners are clearly feeling that with “Kupido” by The Red Strings.

The OPM band’s latest single has surpassed 300,000 streams on Spotify since its release, landing on editorial playlists including Hot Hits Philippines, Tatak Pinoy, and OPM Rising. It also entered the Spotify Philippines Viral Songs Chart, peaking at No. 25.

“Kupido” is a slow-burn romance anthem, built around stolen glances, quiet confessions, and the particular excitement of relationship firsts. The song leans into the beauty of letting love unfold on its own terms rather than rushing toward a label. All six band members — Gello Marquez, Cedryck Guda, Llana Claire Catudio, Nicholas De Rosales, Risen Santos, and Liam Barba — co-wrote the track alongside DNA Music label head Gabriel Tagadtad, who also produced it.

The Red Strings formed through ABS-CBN Entertainment’s docu-reality show “The Next Big Band.” The group’s name is rooted in the concept of the red string of fate — the idea that its members were meant to find each other and make music together.

Off streaming platforms, the band has been steadily building a live presence. They recently joined Angela Ken’s “Panahon” busking tour at SM Mall of Asia, performed at the “The Road to Wakas” mall show in SM City Dasmariñas, and appeared at “M2chella” in Market! Market!

“Kupido” is available now on all digital streaming platforms.
