PASIG CITY, Philippines — Admission is free, the guests are international, and the comics market is open to everyone for the first time.

The Philippine International Comics Festival returns July 10-12 at Ayala Malls The 30th. For the first time, PICOF is an Open Festival. That means free access to the comics market, exhibits, masterclasses, talks, artist battles, and live drawing events.

More than just buying comics

Visitors can browse works from Filipino and international creators representing the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia. The lineup includes new releases from Arnold Arre, Ian Velasquez, Carlo Jose San Juan, Arli Pagaduan, and Komiket.

Three major exhibits are on deck: the PICOF Official Selection, a Larry Alcala centennial tribute, and a Japan Country Highlight featuring queer stories across Asia.

Masterclasses and artist battles

The masterclass program brings in creators from multiple countries, including Tori Tadiar from the Philippines and Masaomi Ito from Japan. Festivalgoers can sit in on comic book talks, attend book launches, and watch live drawing sessions.

If you collect komiks, draw, or just like stories told in panels, this is worth the trip. Admission is free.
